Ace Aquatec won the Innovation Award

Aqua Nor received 28 applications for the Innovation Award this year from companies in 14 countries. This was 64% more applications that at Aqua Nor 2015.

Ace Aquatec Ltd from Inverness in Scotland has developed a method for electric stunning of the fish in the sea, before a special pump brings the unconscious fish through a transporter pipe to the bleeding table. 3-5 electrodes in the sea stun the fish in a matter of 1 second in an area 1 meter from the transport pipe. A 100% success in making the fish unconscious is guaranteed. Up to 75 tonnes of fish can be stunned per hour without stressing the fish or damaging the fish flesh.

Cheque and diploma
The Award was received by Managing Director Nathan Pyne-Carter, who in addition to receiving a cheque for NOK 100 000, also received a work of art and a diploma from Minister of Fisheries Per Sandberg and the Chairman of the Nor-Fishing Foundation, Mrs. Liv Holmefjord. The Award was presented at the opening of Aqua Nor 2017.
